Borman. I'm the artistic director from the Louisville Chorus. 00:03:54
We are Kentucky and as oldest performing ensemble. 00:03:58
Out dating both the orchestra and the opera in Louisville. 00:04:01
I wrote to your office last week about a project that we're bringing to Floyd County, and I'm grateful for the invitation today to 00:04:04
share a little bit with you. 00:04:07
As you probably know, this year our country turns 250 years old. 00:04:10
And to mark that moment, we are presenting a series of concerts titled America 250 The Next Chapter. 00:04:14
Which is hopefully a free and coral orchestral concert across 2 States and two communities. So we'll do a couple. 00:04:20
Across the river and hoping to plant a flag here. 00:04:26
In in New Albany at Saint Mary of the Annunciation. 00:04:28
On Friday, June 26th at 7:00 PM. 00:04:32
We're expecting about 700 attendees. 00:04:36
At the New Albany concert alone and regional press and social media could reach another 250,000 folks across that campaign. 00:04:38
We'll be joined by a few other nonprofits, including the Louisville Thrust in chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. 00:04:44

Reached out to Saint Mary about potentially hosting this concert just a few weeks ago, which is sort of the compressed timeline 00:04:53
here and why I'm before you today. 00:04:56
I believe this this belongs here in Floyd County because the history of Floyd County is woven into the American story. 00:05:00
As a Hoosier myself, I grew up learning about the Buffalo Trace that ran through here. 00:05:05
The Underground Railroad. 00:05:10
Boats that built that were built in New Albany and Jeff that carried the country forward. So when we talk about the 250 years of 00:05:11
America, Floyd County is is central to that conversation. 00:05:15
So I'm writing to ask for a couple of things. First, I'd like to ask the Commission to consider a formal resolution to recognize 00:05:19
America 250, the next chapter. 00:05:23
And to memorialize Floyd County participation in the National 250th commemoration. 00:05:28
From what I can tell on the 250 website, there is not yet an organized event published here. 00:05:33
In Floyd County. 00:05:38
And so a revolution resolution from this board would change that and signal that Floyd County is leading, not following on this 00:05:40
250th anniversary. 00:05:43
Secondly, I would love to ask the Commission to consider a joint resolution with the County Council. 00:05:47
In any expedited way that is possible from the Clark Floyd County. 00:05:51
Convention and Tourism Board in support of this event. 00:05:55
I know a similar resolution passed last August for Sam Peden Community Park. Obviously very different. 00:05:58
But a contribution of around 4 to $5000 would directly support. 00:06:03

And keep it free for the community and allow us to bring in the full orchestra that we're going to bring in in across the river. 00:06:08
So we're we're curious if that is a possibility. And whatever form that support takes, we certainly be honored to have Floyd 00:06:14
County alongside of us. 00:06:17
It's kind of a once in a generation or once in a five generation moment. 00:06:22
And I can't think of a county better position to market meaningfully than this one. So I appreciate your time and would be happy 00:06:25

Timeline crunched items, so I appreciate you adding it to tonight's agenda. This is a VGA, a grant. It's a justice reinvestment 00:13:02

It's helped strengthen state and local operations, reducing again crime and recidivism. 00:13:13
The reason actually that I got involved is I still have access to grants.gov and I was able to pull a lot of. 00:13:19

We brought this to the Commissioners for approval to move forward. 00:13:32
One of the things I would like to point out about this particular grant, it's a an award grant, not a reimbursement, which is a 00:13:36

But the wording in the grant, as is stated on the. 00:13:46

It's an effort to reduce wasteful spending and inefficiencies across the justice systems operations. 00:13:53

I wrote to your office last week about a project that we're bringing to Floyd County, and I'm grateful for the invitation today to 00:04:04
share a little bit with you. 00:04:07
As you probably know, this year our country turns 250 years old. 00:04:10
And to mark that moment, we are presenting a series of concerts titled America 250 The Next Chapter. 00:04:14
Which is hopefully a free and coral orchestral concert across 2 States and two communities. So we'll do a couple. 00:04:20
Across the river and hoping to plant a flag here. 00:04:26
In in New Albany at Saint Mary of the Annunciation. 00:04:28
On Friday, June 26th at 7:00 PM. 00:04:32
We're expecting about 700 attendees. 00:04:36
At the New Albany concert alone and regional press and social media could reach another 250,000 folks across that campaign. 00:04:38
We'll be joined by a few other nonprofits, including the Louisville Thrust in chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. 00:04:44

Reached out to Saint Mary about potentially hosting this concert just a few weeks ago, which is sort of the compressed timeline 00:04:53

I believe this this belongs here in Floyd County because the history of Floyd County is woven into the American story. 00:05:00
As a Hoosier myself, I grew up learning about the Buffalo Trace that ran through here. 00:05:05
The Underground Railroad. 00:05:10
Boats that built that were built in New Albany and Jeff that carried the country forward. So when we talk about the 250 years of 00:05:11
America, Floyd County is is central to that conversation. 00:05:15
So I'm writing to ask for a couple of things. First, I'd like to ask the Commission to consider a formal resolution to recognize 00:05:19
America 250, the next chapter. 00:05:23
And to memorialize Floyd County participation in the National 250th commemoration. 00:05:28
From what I can tell on the 250 website, there is not yet an organized event published here. 00:05:33
In Floyd County. 00:05:38
And so a revolution resolution from this board would change that and signal that Floyd County is leading, not following on this 00:05:40
250th anniversary. 00:05:43
Secondly, I would love to ask the Commission to consider a joint resolution with the County Council. 00:05:47
In any expedited way that is possible from the Clark Floyd County. 00:05:51
Convention and Tourism Board in support of this event. 00:05:55
I know a similar resolution passed last August for Sam Peden Community Park. Obviously very different. 00:05:58
But a contribution of around 4 to $5000 would directly support. 00:06:03

And keep it free for the community and allow us to bring in the full orchestra that we're going to bring in in across the river. 00:06:08
So we're we're curious if that is a possibility. And whatever form that support takes, we certainly be honored to have Floyd 00:06:14

It's kind of a once in a generation or once in a five generation moment. 00:06:22
